The BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, inaugurated on February 14, 2024, by PM Narendra Modi, is the first traditional stone Hindu temple in the Middle East. Located in Abu Mureikha, it is a massive, hand-carved, steel-free, pink sandstone and marble structure, symbolizing interfaith harmony. It is open Tuesday-Sunday (9 a.m. to 8 p.m.) with free entry, though prior registration is required.

  • Location & Access: Situated on the Abu Dhabi-Dubai highway, about a one-hour drive from Dubai.

  • Hours: Open Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Closed on Mondays).

  • Entry Fee & Registration: Free entry, but, online registration is highly recommended to manage crowds.

  • Requirements: A valid government-issued ID (passport or Emirates ID) is required for entry.

  • Dress Code & Restrictions: Visitors must dress modestly (shoulders and knees covered). Photography is prohibited inside the main, intricately carved temple sanctums.

  • Amenities: Features a food court ("The Orchard") serving Satvik food and water from the Ganga/Yamuna rivers.

Temple Highlights:

  • Architecture: Built using ancient Hindu Shilpa Shastras with no steel or iron, featuring 1.8 million bricks and sandstone from Rajasthan.

  • Symbolism: It features seven spires representing the seven emirates of the UAE, as well as the Wall of Harmony, a 3D-painted wall.

  • Daily Schedule: Includes Aarti ceremonies (Ganga Aarti at 7:30 p.m.) and space for quiet reflection.
